Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (JKS) has urged the transport workers to call off their strike to end public sufferings.
JKS Secretary General Mozammel Haque Chowdhury on Monday came up with the request in a statement, reports UNB.
"People have become hostage to a group of miscreants in the name of transport workers and are being harassed by them. In this situation, the role of the law enforcement agencies as silent spectators is also frustrating," said the statement.
Mozammel Haque urged them to resolve their problem through talks with the authorities concerned instead of creating to sufferings to people.
In his statement, Mozammel Haque mentioned that Bangladesh Road Transport Federation, which has enforced the strike, was a member of the Road Transport Act-2018 formulation committee.
People continued to suffer as the countrywide transport strike demanding amendments to the recently passed Road Transport Act entered the second day on Monday.
