10 regional offices send voting booth, polling centre lists to EC

All the ten regional offices of the Election Commission (EC) have sent lists of the voting booths and polling centres to the EC headquarters in the city on Tuesday.
According to sources, the EC had selected 40,191 voting centres and 206,540 voting booths across the country for the upcoming 11th parliamentary elections.
A draft list of polling centres for the national election was published on August 5.
According to the draft lists the number of polling centres was 40,657 and voting booths was 209,418.
On July 19, the Election Commission instructed its field level officers to make a primary list of polling centres.
There were 37,707 polling centres and 189,078 voting booths in the 10th parliamentary election held on January 5 in 2014.
Before this, the district and upazila offices of the Election Commission on Thursday published the primary list of polling centres for the upcoming 11th general election.
EC Assistant Secretary Rowshan Ara said the district and upazila offices have been asked to submit the list to the Election Commission Secretariat by September 8, so that it may be finalised.
"The total number of polling centres for the national election will be revealed once the primary list is finalised," she added.
There will be around 600,000 polling officials to conduct the elections in 40,191 polling centres during the 11th national elections, said EC officials.
