Dhaka University (DU) authorities have canceled appointment of two teachers due to not joining their respective departments after finishing vacation.
The teachers are Assistant Professor of Economics Mashfiqur Rahman Khan and Lecturer of Development Studies Department Tamanna Afrin Rimi.
The decision came from a syndicate meeting chaired by DU VC Prof Dr M Akhtaruzzaman on Monday.
The meeting also directed some vacationers to join their respective departments by the next eight weeks.
The Syndicate canceled a 'controversial recommendation' of the selection board in Sociology Department and appointed two instead of three.
Meanwhile the Syndicate has selected National Professor Dr Anisuzzaman as convocation speaker for the university's 51st convocation which will be held on October 6.
Earlier on May 9, Liberian Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Leymah Gbowee had been proposed to be invited as the chief guest.
Syndicate member and Associate Professor Mohammad HumayunKabir confirmed the information to journalists.
