Abdus Salam

Clouds are floating in the blue sky,
At night stars are twinkling so high;
Riverside with catkins is spiffy sight,
Fireflies effulge in the dark night.
In the paddy fields gentle breeze blows,
In the harmony the river flows;
Boys fly kite in the afternoon,
Silver light is spread by the moon.
Butterflies dance over the flowers round,
In their lips there are melodious sound;
In the fishing boat fishermen put up sail,
Autumn arrival in the country these mail.

The poet is administrative officer, Ministry of Public Administration, Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka
