Mawlana Rajab Ali Molla, who took part in the funeral and burial of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has been admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital early Thursday after his brain stroke.
His family said the veteran Islamic scholar suffered brain stroke at his Mehedibagh residence in Satkhira town on Wednesday night. He is now under treatment of Dr Asaduzzaman in the hospital.
Satkhira Police Superintendent Sajjadur Rahman is looking after his treatment situation. Mawlana Rajab Ali, 79, retired as the imam of Satkhira Police Lines mosque.
In 1975, the young Rajab was a student of local Gobra Madrasa from where he admitted to Gawhardanga Madrasa in Tungipara later. On 15 August, Rajab Ali and his two friends—Jalaluddin, a resident of Pagati, and Belayet Hossain, a resident of Dighaliya of Gopalganj district—took part in the funeral and burial of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after his body was brought to Tungipara in an army helicopter.
Jalaluddin and Belayet Hossain, later, served as imams at Kamalnagar and Ansar camp mosques. They both have died recently. Mawlana Mahmudul Hasan, imam of Sadar Police Station Jame Mosque, and Mawlana Sharifuzzaman, imam of Police Lines Mosque, are two sons of Mawlana Rajab Ali. They begged all to pray to the Almighty for their father’s early recovery.
