Management Committee, not Interim, says SL sports minister
Mumbai, Aug 31: The meeting with the ICC chairman Shashank Manohar and the CEO Dave Richardson was very cordial, according to Sri Lanka's Sports Minister Faizer Mustapha, who along with the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials (Kamal Pathamasiri and the CEO Ashely de Silva) went to Dubai to discuss the crisis at the SLC.
"It went well and it was a very fruitful meeting", the sports minister, who from Dubai has gone to Jakarta for the Asian Games, said over telephone exclusively.
"We have been guided by the ICC to form a five-member committee to look after cricket in Sri Lanka. The committee will not be called as an interim committee but the management committee", the minister emphasized.
"We have also been given the extension to hold the elections before the 9th February", he added.
In the last meeting with the ICC officials, the SLC was given a six-month time to hold elections.
"There was no point of discussion on suspension of the SLC".
"The five member management committee will be chaired by the Competent Authority. I have not yet decided who the other four members would be...".
"Once I arrive in Sri Lanka on Monday, will name the four members".
