Nepal Minister quits over controversial remarks

Nepal Law Minister Sher Bahadur Tamang, who came under criticism from several quarters for his controversial remarks, resigned from the post on Tuesday.
Tamang had said that Nepali girls who are studying or have studied MBBS in Bangladesh were bound to compromise their honour to claim their certificates.
Minister Tamang announced his resignation at a press conference in Kathmandu today. He had come under fire after he made an insensitive remarks during a programme organised at Praxis International Academy on July 20, Kathmandupost reports.
He issued apology but was under pressure from within his party to step down from his post including from leaders including KP Sharma Oli and Madhav Kumar Nepal.
