Court rejects Khaleda's bail in Narail case
A Narail court on Tuesday rejected the bail petition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a defamation case filed over her 'derogatory remarks' about freedom fighters and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Senior judicial magistrate court judge Jahidul Azad passed the order.
Earlier on July 2, the court ended the hearing and kept it pending to pass the order.
On June 5, Judge Sheikh Abdul Ahad of the District and Session's Judge Court rejected her bail mentioning it 'not maintainable'.
On December 21, 2015, Khaleda Zia at a discussion at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh raised questions about the actual number of Liberation War martyrs saying, "There're controversies over how many were martyred in the Liberation War. There're also many books and documents on the controversies."
Later, Raihan Farooque Imam of Naragati filed a case with the Cognisance Court on December 24.
