Two suspected drug traders were killed in separate incidents of gunfight with police in Mymensingh and Kushtia early Monday.

With this, the number of deaths stood at 192 across the country since May 12.

In Kushtia, on secret information that a gang of drug peddlers gathered at Haripur Sheikh Russell link road bridge around2am, a team of police conducted a drive there, Kushtia Model Police Station SI
Atiqur Rahman said.

Sensing presence of the team, the gang members opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back for self-defence.

After the gunfight, police recovered the bodies of Shahar Ali, 38, son of Monwar Baksh.

Police also recovered a shooter gun, three bullets and 600 Yaba pills from the scene.

In Mymensingh, Ahsan Ullah Khan Noman, 45, son of Manzurul Haque, a resident of Senbari area, was killed in a gun-battle with police members at Raghurampur area under Sadar upazila around 2:30am.

Noman was accused in 14 cases, Kotwali Model Police Station OC Mahmudul Islam said.
