Lightning kills three in two districts

At least three persons were killed and two injured in separate lightning strike incidents in two districts- Rajshahi and Pirojpur, in two days.
RAJSHAHI: Two persons were killed and two injured in separate lightning strikes at Godagari Upazila here on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Md Abdullah, 7, son of Abdul Goni of Chandalla Village under Mohanpur Union and Salim, 30, son of Mayad Ali of Shimla Village in the upazila.
The injured are Khaibur Rahman, 36, son of Obeydur Rahman and Krishan Shil, son of Sri Nagen in the upazila.
Sources said Abdullah was playing in a field when lightning struck him at 1:10 pm, leaving him dead on the spot and two others injured.
In another incident, a farmer was killed in a lightning strike while working in a field.

The family of each deceased was given Tk 10 thousand, said upazila nirbahi office sources.
PIROJPUR: A schoolboy was killed in a lightning strike at Bachki Village under Mathbaria Upazila here on Monday noon.
The deceased was identified as Yasin Darjee, 9, son of Yunus Darjee of the village and a student of class two at Gabtala Government Primary School.  
Family sources said the deceased went to a local paddy field to look after his cows during rain when lightning struck him and he died on the spot.
