Bangabandhu's birthday celebrated across country
The 99th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day was observed across the country on Saturday in a festive mood.
In Patuakhali, deputy commissioner, police department, different political parties and leaders of cultural organisations paid homage by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, father of the nation.
A coulourful procession was brought out from Bangabandhu Square which paraded the main roads of the district.
In Faridpur, a colourful procession was brought out from DC office which ended at Razendra College after parading main roads of the district.
Later, a floral wreath was placed at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
Meanwhile, in Kishoreganj, deputy commissioner Md Sarwar Morshed Chowdhury paid his tribute by placing by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Muktijoddha Sangsad. Later, people from all walks of life paid their respect by placing wreaths.
Some social organisation and students of different schools took part at a discussion over life-term achievement of Bangabandhu.
In Chapainawabganj, Shibganj upazila administration, different political parties and cultural organisations placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
A colourful procession was brought out from Shibganj Mohila College which paraded main roads of the district.
A discussion was also held at auditorium.
In Naogaon, a colourful procession led by Atrai upazila chairman Alhajj Ebadur Rahman.
Later, a discussion was held at upazila parishad hall room.
In Gazipur, Bangabandhu’s birthday and the National Children’s Day was observed at main campus Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University with due respect and in a festive mood.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Giashuddin Miah distributed the prizes among the winners. Treasurer Prof. Tofayel Ahamed, Faculty members, students, officers and employees were present at that time.
Vice Chancellor Of National University Prof Harun ur Rashid, however, paid his tribute by placing wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi.
In Narail, a colourful procession, organised by DC was brought out from Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad stadium which ended at Shilpakola Academy chattar.
They cut a cake after placing wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
In Jessore, art competition, rally, procession and homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s mural was organised by Jessore Science and Technology University to mark the day.
Vice Chancellor of the university Dr M Anwar Hossain paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s mural in the town. Later teachers, staff, leaders and activists of political and cultural parties placed floral wreaths to the mural.
In Rajshahi, the district administration brought out a rally that paraded the main streets of the city and ended at Shilpakala Academy to observer the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu. Later, a discussion meeting and cultural program was held.
Rajshahi University paid tribute at the portrait of Bangabandhu at 7:30 in the morning. Then University Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Abdus Sobhan cut a birthday cake.
Rajshahi College brought out a joyous rally which began from the college administration building and paraded the important roads of the city.
President of Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, General Secretary Dablu Sarker, Jubo League's Rajshahi City unit president Ramjan Ali, teacher leader Shafiqur Rahman Badsha and Awami League leaders of various organizations paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu located at Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League party office.
In Manikganj, district Chhatra League arranged an art competition and discussion to mark the day.
Chaired by district Chhatra League president Quazi Raju Ahmed, the programme was addressed, among others, by Awami League leader Nina Rahman, Badrul Islam Bablu, Mahbubur Rahman Jony, Chhatra League leader Mahmud Abbas Akash, Abdullah Al Mamun and Tanvir Faisal Rahi.
