4 killed in Jaflong stone quarry slide

Four workers were killed and several went missing in a collapse while extracting stone in a quarry in Jaflong on Tuesday afternoon.

Officer in-charge of Gowainghat Police Staion Hillol Rai confirmed the incident.

The deceased could not be identified yet.

UNB adds: Shamsul Alam Sarkar, Additional Superintendent of Police, said a portion of mud collapsed on a group of workers around 4:30pm while they were extracting stones from the quarry at Mondirer Jum.

Four workers died on the spot while several others suffered injuries, he said.
