Bangladesh will start the year with a tri-nation series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in January. Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal mentioned the host, Tigers, are the favourite in this series.
In 2009, Bangladesh played a tri-nation series at home against the same opponents. Bangladesh  lost the final losing to Sri Lanka. This time Tamim wants to keep the trophy at home.
Talking to the media on Sunday Tamim said, "Of course (hope to win). We did not play so many tri-nation series. We played final once. It is a great opportunity for us."
"We know our two opponents better. We know about their strength and weakness. They also know about us. The rest of the days of practice are very important for us. Hope we can take better preparation," added Tamim.
Bangladesh have clear idea about both the opponents. He mentioned Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe can defeat any opponent on their day. But as the matches will be held at the home ground Tamim consider Bangladesh are favourite.
He said, "I think the series will be attractive. The other two teams are also better. Sri Lanka are a good team. Zimbabwe can be dangerous on their day. We will play at our home ground. The way we have been playing for last couple of years at home ground, we should be favourite."
The former Bangladesh coach Hathurusingha is now the head coach of Sri Lanka while the former pace bowling coach Heath Streak is now the head coach of Zimbabwe. Tamim think they should take the matter easily as thinking much about them can create pressure of the Tigers.
He said, "If we think about that then it may be a big fact. They were in Bangladesh for three-four years. But if we do not think about that then I think it would not be a big deal."
"Because, at the end of the day, you can chalk out the plan. But there is no benefit if it is not executed at the field. If we can execute the plan of our coach then of course we will do better," he added.
However, the series will be started with the match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe on January 15, 2018.  The final of the tournament will be held on January 27. All the seven matches of the series will be held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
