Award ceremonies draw attention before year finale

Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairman of ATN Bangla has reportedly claimed to make five films a year from now. The media icon made the announcement while appearing as the chief guest at the award giving ceremony of Bangladesh Film Club Limited. The ceremony was held on December 26 at FDC.  Based Simon, chairman of Sobuj Saya Abasan Ltd was the special guest. At the award giving ceremony posthumous award was given to Nayak Raj Razzak, who passed away on August 21 this year. Lifetime achievement award went to filmmaker Azizur Rahman. Awards were given for scoring the most numbers or first numbers in categories such as most film direction, most music composition etc. A number of awards were given for winning the highest number of National Film Awards in different categories-Alauddin Ali for getting the most National Film Awards for music composition, Alamgir for acting, Mahiuddin Faruk for art direction, Mahfuzur Rahman for cinematography. Apart from them Amjad Hossain got awards for literary fiction based films, Gazi Mazharul Anwar for penning maximum film songs, Delowar Jahan Jhantu for most film directions. Singer Runa Laila and actress Bobita received awards for being popular in the sub-continent in their respective fields.
AKM Jahangir Khan got award for being the most popular producer. Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque got award for winning the first National Film Award for acting, Sohel Rana for directing the first Liberation War film. Shakib Khan and his yet to be divorced wife Apu Biswas jointly won awards for appearing in 73 films together.
ATN Bangla Performers' Award
ATN Bangla's first annual awards function for contributions to art and culture was held on December 27 at the Noboratri Hall of International Convention City Bashundhara. Sabina Yasmin and Syed Abdul Hadi got the first lifetime achievement awards in the award ceremony which will be held every year from now for promoting TV, films, music and dance industry. Singer Momtaz and law enforcing agency RAB which played role in the box -office hit Dhaka Attack got special mention awards.
Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu was present as chief guest while Mahfuzur Rahman, chairman of ATN Bangla and Syed Alamgir, CEO of ACI Consumer Brand were present as special guests. Apu Biswas got the best actress award for her part in the poignant film "Rajneeti". Among others TV host Hanif Sanket, TV drama actor Apurba, film and TV drama actress Tisha and Iva Rahman, film actor Shakib Khan, musician Bappa Mazumdar, film Dhaka Attack director Dipankar Dipen got awards for contributions in their distinctive fields.
A number of luminaries were present at the event to handover the awards including Mustafa Zaman Abbasi, Gazi Mazharul Anwar, Mohamad Khurshid Alam, film actors Farooque and Sohel Rana, Amzad Hossain, Fatema-Tuz-Zohra, Imdadul Haque Milon and more.
In the cultural segment arranged in the middle of the handovers vocalist Kanak Chapa, Ivan and his troupe performed among others.
Rtv Star Awards
On December 26 the annual Rtv Star Awards for TV-based celebrities was held at International Convention City Bashundhara. Musician Alam Khan got this year's lifetime achievement award. While receiving the awards he noted that generally lifetime achievement awards are given at the very beginning but in Rtv Star Awards this year awards in the Liberation War and Patriotic category were given first much to his pleasure. Afran Nisho and Tarin Jahan got best actor and actress award in the mentioned Patriotic category. Actors Al Mamun and Ziaul Hasan Kislu alongside senior actress Dolly Johur got award for playing lead role in a production of Patriotic genres. Best directors in the same genres were Sraboni Ferdousi and her spouse Shuvra Khan.
In the music section Jhilik and Sabbir Zaman were awarded according to popular choice, Champa Banik and Mamun Zahid as senior singers and Different Touch as a band.
In single hourlong drama category Mosharraf Karim, Siam, Aparna Ghosh got awards as best actors while Fazlur Rahman Babu, Runa Khan and child artiste Afrin Shikha Raisa were in awarded for crafting central roles. Golam Sohrab Dodul got award as the best director and Tabarak Hossain and Mesbah Uddin Sumon got best scriptwriters' awards in the single drama category. Chanchal, Milon, Mom were named best actors in the drama serial category while Sagar Jahan was adjudged the best director.
