20 engines, 150 bogies to be imported
The government will buy 150 compartments and 20 locomotives worth Tk 1,800 crore from South Korea to increase service facility for passengers and upgrade the railway sector of the country.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Tuesday approved this project in a meeting held at NEC conference room with Ecnec Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Industries Minister Amir Hussain Amu, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, among others, were present at the meeting.
Total 16 projects at an estimated cost of Tk 16,010 crore 24 lakh were approved in the meeting. After the meeting Planning Minister briefed the reporters about the details of the meeting.
