Share-Net Bangladesh organised a day-long "Knowledge Fair on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)," jointly hosted by Red Orange Media and Communications, and James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, on December 21, 2017, at Long Beach Suits, Dhaka, says a press release.
In the fair, Share-Net Bangladesh discussed adolescent sexual and reproductive health and needs. Mushfiqa Zaman Satiar, the Senior Adviser of SRHR, and Gender of the Embassy of Netherlands, was the guest of honour of the programme. "If the youth have proper knowledge about sexual and reproductive health, it will help them to get over their inhibitions to talk about such matters. Share-Net is a medium dedicated to inform the populace about sexual and reproductive health rights," she spoke to the attendance.
Nahim Razzaq, the Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Youth and Sports, was also present in the programme as special guest. "The language of Share-Net should be Bengali and devoid of any difficulties. If youth are incorporated with activities of Share-Net, they would have equal access to all walks of people," he says. He stressed on the importance of dissemination of proper information to the youth.
In welcome speech, Arnob Chakraborty, Managing Director of Red Orange Media and Communications, shares, "Share-Net Bangladesh has more than 600 members now. www.share-netbangladesh.org link is for all of us to join and reap the benefits of it." Sabina Faiz Rashid, Dean and Professor, James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University was all about creativity in her welcome speech. "Share-Net uses creative and easily translatable method to disperse hard to bite subject matters," she says.
There was a brief plenary session on adolescent SRHR followed by an interactive session. The plenary session covered the presentation and discussion on adolescent health, adolescent rights and comprehensive sexuality education for the adolescent in the context of present scenario and future routes in Bangladesh.
Through this knowledge fair, Share-Net Bangladesh aims to bring all the organizations, which are working on sexual and reproductive health and rights, together under a common platform where they can build up the network and work together in future.
Share-net Bangladesh is the country hub of Share-Net International, a Knowledge Platform focusing on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The platform focuses to contribute significantly to policy and programme development in the field of SRHR in developing countries.
