Blasphemous photo post: Titu put on 4-day remand
A court on Wednesday granted four days remand for Titu Roy in case filed against posting blasphemous photo on social media that triggered an arson attack on Rangpur Hindu houses.
Debangshu Kumar Sarkar, Senior Judicial Magistrate of Rangpur, passed the order after police appeared the accused before the court and sought 10days remand for interrogation.
Titu was arrested from Jaldhaka upazila of Nilphamari district on Monday night.
On November 5, Titu Roy, son of late Khogen Roy in Harkoli Thakurpara area, allegedly uploaded the Facebook post demeaning Islam that sparked a strong protest.
The protesters torched eight Hindu houses and locked in a clash with law enforcers that left one dead by bullet and 25, including seven cops, injured.
Later, police filed two cases over the incident with Kotwali and Gangachara police stations.
