Star Cineplex, the country's first 3D movie house is planning for extending with style. To start with it released four Hollywood movies on the same day on June 24. This is a first for Bangladesh. Furthermore the movie theatre is all set to release "Ice Age: Collision Course" two weeks ahead of its global release (July 22), which will also be a history. This 5th installment of the Ice Age saga will be released on Eid-ul-Fitr. Apart from this Star Cineplex is planning on expansion towards the Shimanto Square in Dhanmondi with three new halls. It is also looking to finish construction works for 3D theatres for the first time in Cox's Bazar before the end of this year. Managing director of the movie theatre, Mahboob Rahman detailed these announcements on June 23 at the premises of the theatre.
The movies released on June 24, start with animated featurete Finding Dory that became an instant box office hit in the US. Then there is Central Intelligence, the parody movie making fun at CIA and counter-intelligence. The movie stars Dwayne Johnson. The Nice Guy, starring Academy Award winner Russel Crowe along with stars like Ryan Gosling, Angourie Rice, Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley, Keith David and Kim Basinger is the third movie in the row. The movie is another mixture of comedy and action. It is set in the 70s US and broods on a peculiarly styled investigation into the death of a pornstar. Finally, the much awaited alien-disaster movie, "Independence Day: Resurgence" which follows the 1996 hit Independence Day wraps up the list for June 24.
