F?te de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, is a music festival that began in France in 1982 as a brainchild of the then French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang. Since then June 21 has been celebrated every year in more than hundred countries in Europe and over the world as the World Music Day. The target of "F?te de la Musique" is to promote open air and non-stop musical performances, to help making all sorts of music accessible to the public totally free of charges at least for one day. Furthermore, the F?te de la Musique is a way to encourage the major musical institutions (orchestra, operas, choirs, etc.) to perform outside their usual locations and traditional genres.
