Passer-by killed in C'Bazar gunfight

COX'S BAZAR, June 15: A passer-by was killed and several others were injured in a gunfight between supporters of two groups over land dispute at Fakira bazaar (Tetultola) area under Islamabad union in Sadar upazila here on Tuesday late night.
Eyewitnesses said the deceased Nurul Absar, also an expatriate, was going to a local pharmacy to buy medicine during the gunfight between two rival groups at 11pm when he received bullet shots and was seriously injured.
He was rushed to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead.
Of the injured, the condition of Abdullah Al Akash, president of Shahfakira Bazaar Committee, was stated to be critical. The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital and Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Aslam Hossen said the body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police are trying to nab the criminals, the OC added.
