Police recovered the slaughtered body of a Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal leader from a pond at Hamirkutsa village in Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Altaf Hossain Sona, 32, president of Hamirkutsa union Swechchhasebak Dal.

Police said, local people spotted the floating body of Altaf  in the morning and informed police.

Later, police recovered the body, said Bagmara Thana OC Salim Hossain.

Hamirkutsa union chairman Mamunur Rashid, cousin of the deceased, said Altaf was missing since Monday night..
