As it was predicted, Bangladesh National Football Team also lose the second play-off match saving nose to Tajikistan by 1-0 margin at home on Tuesday after a devastating 5-0 defeat to the same rival in Tajikistan.
However, it was already predicted what was going to happen in the match as even the much optimist coach of the country de Kruif did not say anything good about it earlier on Monday.
He said that it would not an easy matter to win against a team like Tajikistan who won the earlier match by 5-0 margin against the Bengal boys. Also skipper Mamunul could not say anything positive.
Bangladesh suffered a 5-0 defeat in the first play-off on June 2 at the Central Republic Stadium in Tajikistan where the host literally blew away the red and greens. Before that, the Bengal boys taste another 5-0 big margin defeat to the same rival in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier match in Tajikistan and a 1-1 draw at home.
The visiting side scored the match winning goal in the very seventh minute from a freekick as their defender Nazarov Siyovush fired the net. Bangladesh defender Rayhan Hasan fouled an opponent midfielder Umarboev Parvizjon in the penalty area handing the freekick.
Yet Bangladesh could score two goals in the 19th and 33rd minute. Both were unsuccessful attempts of striker Nabib Newaz Zibon. The striker solely entered the box from the right flank before taking a fierce shot towards the post and it was stopped by Tajik proficient custodian Mahkamov Abduaziz timely. Zibon's second attempt was a weak shot towards the goalmouth which was bounded on the way on a defenders body.
The host wasted a series of opportunities to level the margin in the second half.
In the 80th minute of the match, Denmark-born Bangladeshi midfielder Jamal Bhuiyan made an opportunity for the home after passing the ball to Tapu Barman in the middle of the box although Topu's header was saved by the Tajik custodian for a corner.
After the defeat on the day, Bangladesh failed another chance to qualify for the final round of the AFC Asian Cup-2019.
If they could defeat the Tajik by a big 6-0 margin on the day then they would easily get a chance to play the final round of the AFC event.
Fortunately the Bengal boys still have a chance which indeed will be the last chance for them and to able that they will have to play two play-off matches against Bhutan in next September and in October.
No doubt the Bengal boys will be very sorry if they lose those matches too. Because, losing those matches will result Bangladesh make them unable to play any international matches arranged by AFC till 2019.
