After 24 hours of the killing of his wife Mahmuda Aktar Mitu, Police Superintendent Babul Aktar has filed a case with Panchlaish thana in Chittagong.

Confirming the case filing, CMP Commissioner M Iqbal Bahar told media that Detective Branch  has been given responsibility to look into the case filed over the murder.  Other agencies would cooperate the detectives, he added.

Police, however, took four persons into custody for interrogation.

Refraining from disclosing their identities, the CMP boss said, "We didn't arrest anyone, only took four persons into custody to glean information. Nothing can be disclosed right now for the interest of investigation. If necessary, identities of the four will be disclosed later."

Earlier in the morning, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told journalists in Dhaka that four people have been detained over the killing of Mitu.

Superintendent Babul Aktar’s wife Mahmuda Aktar was stabbed before being shot in the head on Sunday morning.

She was on her way to drop her 6-year-old son to a bus stop for school when three men, who came on a motorcycle attacked her just a few hundred yards from her home in the port city’s OR Nizam Road.
