The Founding Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University and Emeritus Prof Dr Aminul Islam has been elected the president of Bangladesh Academy of Science (BAS) for the years of 2016-2018, said a press release on Saturday. The 13-member new committee of BAS, a non-political research council with country's renowned scientists and technologists, was elected on May 21, 2016. The office-bearers of the new executive committee are: Prof Dr Kazi Abdul Fattah (vice-president), Prof Dr Naim Chowdhury (vice-president), Dr Z N Tahmida Begum (treasurer), Prof Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed (secretary), Prof Dr Hasina Khan (associate secretary) and Prof Dr M Sultan Ul Aziz (associate secretary). The six executive members are: Emeritus Prof Dr Shamser Ali, national emeritus scientist Dr Kazi M Badruddozza, Prof Dr Jahirul Karim, Prof Dr Hajera Mahtab, Prof Dr Liakat Ali and Prof Dr Mohammad Ali Asgor .
