MYMENSINGH, May 26: A life-term convict and accused in another murder case, wearing hand-cuffs and iron barriers, jumped out of a Mymensingh bound train and fled from police custody in Trishal upazila of the district on Monday night.
The accused, Faruq Elahi Khorshed, 40, son of late Abdul Hekim alias Heki of Rampur village in Trsiahal, is an accused in a murder case filed in 2015 in Trishal, according to police sources.
Faruq is also a life-term convict in another murder case filed with Kamlapur Railway Police Station, the sources said.
A four-member police team led by Nayek Shah Alam of Razarbagh Police Line was on their way to Mymensingh with two accused- Faruq and Shaheen, 30, accused in another case from Dhaka Central Jail, the sources added.
They were travelling by Mymensingh bound Commuter Train, and both the accused were scheduled to appear before separate Mymensingh courts on Tuesday, police informed.
When the train was running between Dhala and Balipara Railway Stations in Trishal upazila around 7.30 pm, Faruq told the police men to allow him to go to the train's toilet.
As police allowed it, Faruq advanced to the toilet, and instead of entering the toilet, he jumped out of the running train, disappeared in darkness and fled the scene, the sources said.
