The recent killings have links with execution of Jamaat leader Matiur Rahman Nizami for war crimes to create unrest in the country, said Dhaka Range DIG Mahfuzul Haq Nuruzzaman on Monday. He also said the killings that took place before or after the execution of Jamaat leader were to make the situation in the country volatile. He said Jamaat-Shibir men were involved in those killings, not the international militant group Islamic State (IS), the DIG said.
He said Jamaat-Shibir men are committing the recent killings across the country. The police official was briefing media after holding monthly crime conference at his office in Dhaka.
The identities of the persons arrested in connection with the recent killings throughout the country show that they are somehow involved with the politics of Jamaat-Shibir. Nuruzzaman urged the people not to be worried for such the killings as these are the stray incidents. He said that the prevailing law and order situation is better than before.
