A Dhaka court on Monday placed Daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman on a five-day remand in a case filed for plotting to abduct and kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the prime minister's son and Information Technology Adviser.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Golam Nabi passed the order showing Mahmudur Rahman arrested in the case.
Earlier on April 18, Detective Branch's Senior Assistant Commissioner Hassan Arafat, also the investigating officer, submitted a prayer to the Dhaka CMM Court seeking 10 days' remand for Rahman and to be shown him arrested in the case.
Detectives arrested noted journalist Shafik Rehman on April 16 in the same case. He was also taken on remand for two terms for interrogation.
In August, 2015, police first filed a general diary and then filed a case with Paltan police station in connection with Plotting to abduct and kill Joy.
