Benapole: Eight Bangladesh nationals, including a woman, returned home through Benapole check-post on Sunday night after serving three years’ jail term in an Indian prison.
The returnees were identified as Razib Sarder, 24, son of Moslem, Jalal, 23, son of Mashiar, Najim Sarder, 29, son of Khorshed Sarder, Shariful Islam, 24, son of Akram Ali, Zia, 27, son of Muslim Fakir, Lalan Shah, 28, son of Sirajul, Ashraful Islam, 37, son of Taher, and Rubina Akter, 17, daughter of Makbul Hossain,
All the victims hail from different areas of Natore, Bagerhat and Kushtia districts.
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed them over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) through Benapole check post on Sunday night, said Nayek Subedar Abdul Rahim, in-charge of the BGB camp at Benapole checkpost.
Nayek Subedar Abdul Rahim said the arrestees went to India illegally in search of jobs three years back.
Indian police arrested them from Kerala.
Afterwards, they were sent to jail by a court and served three years’ jail term.
Upon completion of their jail terms, the Indian government has returned them following repeated requests from the Home Ministry of Bangladesh.
