1 killed over vote counting dispute

One person was killed and ten others injured following a dispute over vote counting at Bahadurpur Government Primary School vote centre of Mathurapur union of Chatmohor in Pabna on Saturday evening.

The deceased is identified as Imdadul Hoque, 52. It is alleged that Hoque is killed by police firing.

 Superintendent of police of Pabna, Alamgir Kabir said a candidate for member demanded counting of votes again after completion of the vote counting. Following the demand, a dispute occurred between the supporters of member candidate and assigned officers. At one stage, the law enforcers with the permission of executive magistrate fired eleven rounds of gun shots to bring the situation under control.
