Prison guard killed while committing burglary

MUNSHIGANJ, Apr 19: A prison guard was killed after falling from the 2nd floor of the district Income Tax Office while committing a burglary there early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mashfiquzzaman, 30, son of Abdul Qader of Masterpara village under Purbadhala upazila in Netrakona district. His permanent residence is at Tenguripara area under Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district. Jailer of Munshiganj District Jail Faridur Rahman Rubel said that Mashfiquzzaman was earlier suspended more than once over burglary incidents. In a burglary case with Bangshal Police Station of Dhaka, he was jailed for more than one year, he added.
Recently, he was stationed at Munshiganj Jail from Shariatpur Jail, the jailer further added.
He further said, "Mashfiq entered the Income Tax Office adjacent to the jail at 10 pm. At that time, night guard of the office raised hue and cry. Hearing this, Mashfiq tried to climb down from the second floor by pipeline, but suddenly fell from there and was seriously injured."
Later, he died at Munshiganj General Hospital. The body was recovered and sent to the hospital for an autopsy.
