Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said the government will definitely take action against those who will be found involved in the conspiracy of killing Sajeeb Wazed Joy after abduction.

"We must take action against those who will be found involved in the conspiracy," she told a discussion meeting at Krishibid Institution,
Bangladesh (KIB).

Awami League organised the event as part of its two-day programme on historic Mujibnagar Day.

The Prime Minister said the government always takes steps whenever it sees any unjust activity. "We never encourage unjust activity and
will never do it either," she asserted.

The Prime Minister’s strong remarks came following the arrest of journalist Shafik Rehman.

Detectives on April 16 arrested Shafik Rehman, an adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, from his residence in the city’s Eskaton
Garden on over a case filed previously over a plot to abduct and kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the IT adviser and son of Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina.

Police also showed Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman arrested in a case filed in connection with the plot.

Coming down heavily on a section of people making various comments and condemning the arrest of Shafik Rehman, Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League chief, said the names of these came from US court and inquiry by their intelligence agency.

"Now they (those condemning the arrest) are seeking justice. My question is whom do they want the justice from?" she said.

About the arrest of Shafik Rehman, former editor of Jai Jai Din, Hasina said those people saw the journalist but they did not judge
the misdeeds that journalist has done. “This (Conspiracy to kidnap Joy) didn’t happen in Bangladesh…it happened in the USA, and their
intelligence and court have unveiled this conspiracy.

Recalling the looting of money by the BNP-Jamaat alliance when they were in power, Hasina said this nexus siphoned off huge money from the country. "The amount was so huge that enabled them to hire or purchase an FBI man," she said.

She said the BNP-Jamaat nexus hired the FBI man to abduct and kill Joy. "This was unearthed in the USA and put it under trial," she said.

The Prime Minister said the US probe made it clear that one BNP leader bribed an FBI man for abducting and killing Joy in the USA.
"They said this in the court and also mentioned the names of Shafik Rehman and Mahmudur Rahman. These are not our words, these are all proved in the USA court," she added.

Hasina questioned why a section of people feel so much pain in their hearts if the government arrests some people who are involved in the
conspiracy to abduct and kill Joy. "This section condemned the arrest, but didn’t condemn the conspiracy…what type of journalism is
this, what type of freedom is this?" she questioned.

The Prime Minister went on saying, “If this section of people thinks arresting criminals is a sin, then, I think, these people will never
call for justice for any killing. They will never judge a crime as a crime."

Sharply criticising those writing indecent words against religion, Hasina said these are nothing but perversion.

"Another section of people emerge calling for freedom of thought. What’s this? Yes, freedom of thought is acceptable, but if this
freedom of thought means porno thinking, perversion, writing anything in indecent way, then this must not be the freedom of thought," she
said.

Hasina said the Constitution of Bangladesh ensured the equal rights to all religions and everybody is allowed to perform his or her
religious rituals. "But if anybody utters bad words against whom I abide by that won’t be accepted. No pious person will accept this.
One must show respect to other religions like his or her own religion.

"Almighty Allah is the Judge on the Judgment Day…those who kill one by taking the law in their hands what type of Muslims they are!" she questioned.

Hasina said those who write bad words against any religion she feels feel shy to read those. "What type of freedom of thinking is
this…this can never be the freedom of thoughts. If they want to write that must be in a decent way."

The Prime Minister also criticised those countries that are very much aware about the human rights. "Where their human rights go when they meet human rights violators?" she questioned further.

Hasina mentioned that the BNP-Jamaat nexus killed hundreds of people through arson attacks. "How do they sit with them when bad smells of burn human flesh come out from them?"

AL leaders Tofail Ahmed MP, Matia Chowdhury, MP, Mohammad Nasim, MP, Syed Ashraful Islam, MP, Advocate Sahara Khatun, MP, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, MP, Dr Dipu Moni, MP, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, MP, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, MP, ABM Tajul Islam, MP, Advocate Kamrul Islam, MP, AKM Rahmat Ullah, MP, Haji Abul Hasnat, Shahe Alam Murad, Sujit Roy Nandi and Sadek Khan took part in the discussion.
