Car CNG cylinder blast kills 1

The CNG cylinder of a car has exploded during refuelling at a filling station in
Savar’s Ashulia, killing one and injuring at least five others.

The explosion took place at Delta CNG Filling Station at Nayarhat on Dhaka-Aricha Highway on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Shamiom Hossain, 27, a worker of the filling station.
 
The injured persons, who could not be identified immediately, were sent to nearby Gonoshasthaya Medical College Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
 
Ashulia Police Station OC Mohsinul Quadir told bdnews24.com the worker, Hossain, was refuelling the car when the explosion happened.

“It exploded with a boom and the car was blown to bits . Shamim died on the spot,” the OC said.

The injured persons included the driver and the passenger, he said. The others were passersby.

The impact of the blast broke down the glass panelling in front of the filling station, the police official added.
