At least two persons were killed in separate road accidents in two districts - Jessore and Munshiganj on Wednesday.
JESSORE: A labourer was killed and another injured as a timber-laden truck plunged into a roadside ditch at Banshbaria on the Chingra-Trimohoni road in Keshabpur upazila of the district on Wednesday noon.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Moral, 42, son of late Mosaddi Moral, a resident of Maddhakul village in Keshabpur upazila. Police said a truck with timber was going to Jessore with Abdul Moral and the other labourer on board.
When the truck reached Banshbaria, the vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch as the driver lost control over the steering around 12pm, leaving Abdul dead on the spot.
MUNSHIGANJ: A youth was crushed under a truck on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Baluakandi area of Gazaria upazila here on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Aual Rony, 17, son of Muktar Ali of Dunga area under Tala upazila of Satkhira district. He was a worker at a factory in Gazaria.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Delwar Hossen of Bhaberchar Highway Police Station Rony was crossing the road near the Sardar filling station in the morning to take breakfast in a nearby hotel when a Dhaka-bound truck from Chittagong dashed him, leaving him killed on the spot.
The truck was caught but its driver fled, the ASI added.
