A DEAR FISH: The new tradition of taking hilsa with pantabhat (rice soaked in water) on Pahela Baishakh is compelling many people to collect the tasty dish by any means. That's why many customers are rushing to the bank of the Padma River at Mawa ghat of Munshiganj district. But this year the catch of big-size hilsa has been reduced drastically. As a result, the price of the dear fish has skyrocketed at the ghat in recent days. The photo shows a seller holding two big-size hilsas that were sold at Tk 42,000 on Tuesday.    Photo: Observer
