A group of citizens in the capital on Friday expressed their dissatisfactions and frustration over Tanu murder case as no responsible persons had yet been arrested after eleven days of her murder on March 20.
It (Tanu murder incident) will also be suppressed like previous incidents of rape and murders in the country, speakers worried
They came up with the remarks at a citizen rally held at the Shahbag intersection in the afternoon, organised by Ganajagaran Mancha to press home their four-point demand including Tanu killers' trail and death penalty for rapists instead of life imprisonment.
In his speech Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker said, "We have already started collecting mass signature across the country from today. It will be submitted to the national parliament speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury later."
He also said, "It is clear that a vested interested and powerful group is behind Tanu's rape and murderer as the evidences are being destroyed in various ways that is questionable."
Among others, Dhaka University Students' Centre Union (DUCSU) former general secretary Dr Mustak Ahmed, Sculptor Rasha, Artist Mahmuduzzaman, Bangladesh Chhatra Union general secretary JM Jilani Shuvow and Lobour leader Rukonuzzaman, spoke on the rally.
After the rally they also brought a procession that marched Dhaka University campus and ended at Shahbag.
