Bangladesh Bank has decided to relax restriction on journalists from entering different departments with a condition that television cameras will require entrance permission, a senior official said.
After a three-day restriction on the media it was decided on Thursday that the print and online media can enter the central bank after registering their names and collecting passes after showing professional identity cards but TV cameras must get permission from the Bangladesh Bank (BB) authority.
The BB spokesman, Suvangkor Saha, said they are working to set up a media cell on the ground floor of the main building but until it happens the media people can enter the bank by following the new instructions.
He said after the hacking incidents they restricted journalists' movement for a few days to assist local and foreign investigating agencies.
Saha said journalists will also require permission from the authority for comments or interview of the BB senior officials.
Earlier in response to the BBs decision to impose restriction on the media the Economic Reporters Forum's top leaders met the BB high ups and at a discussion meeting the central bank later decided to allow journalists on condition.
