But the two will continue function as separate institutions," Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was quoted as saying in a seminar held on March 22. The seminar on importance of libraries was held at the auditorium of Jatiya Grantha Kendra, Bngabandhu Avenue in the city. The seminar titled "Gyanbhittik Shamaj Gothone Beshorkari Granthagar-er Bhumika" was held to highlight the significance of private libraries alongside government's initiatives to nourish a true educated society. Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest at the event chaired by Md Akhtaruzzaman, director of Jatiya Grantha Kendra. Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, president of Biswa Sahitya Kendra and Mofidul Haque were present as guest of honours. Suhita Sultana, deputy director of the centre delivered the welcome speech while researchers Kazi Abdul Mazed, Osman Goni and Md. Monzur Hossain, secretary of the Bangladesh UNESCO National Commission presented keynote speeches.

But private enterprises to this cause have slackened in recent times due to hassled of modern economic life. Governments have also failed to appease the problem with adequate support. But funds will be raised and researches will be increased to support private libraries in corners of the country in the near future."
