One killed, 10 injured in Netrakona storm 200 houses damaged

NETRAKONA, Mar 21: One person was killed and 10 others were injured as a storm swept over Purbadhala upazila of the district early Sunday.
At that time, more than 200 houses, many educational institutions including madrasas and mosques were damaged.
Local sources said following the storm, Abdur Rashid, 50, of Shibpur village under Hogla union in the upazila were killed in wall collapse.
Besides, 10 people including Abdus Sattar, 60, of Bhitargaon village, Helena Khatun, 50, wife of Abdul Jabbar, Jamal Uddin of Budhi village, Sobuj Mia, 65, of Letirkanda village, Abdus Salam, 32, of Jatiabor village, and Hashem Uddin of Bhikunia village were injured.
Abdus Sattar was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and Helena Khatun was admitted to Purbadhala Upazila Health Complex. The rest were treated locally.
On information, Chairman of Purbadhala upazila parishad Md Zahidul Islam Sujon and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Nur Hossen visited the affected areas.
UNO Mohammad Nur Hossen said the deceased's family has been given Tk 20,000 for burial purpose, and each of the affected was given 5 tonnes of rice.
