MUNSHIGANJ, Mar 21: A man, who was going to attend the funeral programme of his grandmother in Comilla along with his relatives, was allegedly killed by driver and helper of a bus at Char Baushia area on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway under Gazaria upazila here on Sunday afternoon.
At that time, his relatives were also injured by the alleged driver, helper and their men.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Aual Sarker, 34, son of freedom fighter Humayun Kabir of Krishnapur village under Muradnagar upazila of Comilla district.
Police and locals said Abdul Awal was going to attend the funeral programme of his grandmother Khairunnesa, boarding a bus of Dhaka-Laxmipur route. As the bus was loading passengers after short intervals, Abdul Aual asked the bus driver to go early.
Following this, the bus staffs were locked in an altercation with Abdul Aual. At that time, the driver phoned someone to take position at Char Baushia area where Abdul Aual and his relatives were forced out of the bus and the driver and the helper with their men beat up Abdul Aual and his relatives.
At one stage, they threw Abdul Aual under a running bus, and he was killed on the spot.
Following the beating, the deceased's brother Al Amin, 28, sister Farida Begum, 25, brother-in-law Saiful, 32, and cousin Kulsum, 24, were injured.
Second Officer of Gazaria Police Station Yeasin Munshi confirmed the incident.
