The Detective Branch (DB) of police took the accused mother in their custody for five days for unearthing the real motive behind the gruesome twin children killing of Banoshree.
On Wednesday Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir Raj placed the accused mother Mahfuza Malek Jasmine, on a five-day remand following a prayer submitted by Lokman Hakim, an inspector of Detective Branch (DB) police and also the Investigation Officer(IO) of the case.
Earlier, the Rampura Thana police grilled the accused for five days.
On March 6, the Detective Branch (DB) police was given the charge of investigation.
After a five -day remand under Rampura Thana police, the accused mother who also confessed to police that she killed her two chidren, produced before the court on Wednesday afternoon by the Detective Branch (DB) of police with a prayer of ten-day remand.
At one stage of the hearing the judge asked the accused mother," Why have you been brought here? Without hesitation she replied that she killed her children, for this reason police brought her here.
Her lawyer Advocate Shafayet Ali pleaded before the court that the woman is sick. At this stage putting her in police custody will be unlawful and he prayed to the court to annul the remand prayer.
On the other hand the complainant lawyer Mostafijur Rahman Talukhdar Dipu made a plea before the court to send her to police custody for finding out the clue behind the motives and those who were involved in the gruesome children killing.
After hearing both the sides the court sent her to Detective Branch (DB) of police custody again for five days.
Nusrat Aman Aroni, 14, and her brother Alvi Aman, 6, were found unconscious at their apartment and declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on February 29.
Three days later, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) told the media that they were killed by their mother out of her "concerns about their future." And Mahfuza made up a food-poisoning story to cover it up.
According to RAB and police, she first strangled her daughter Nusrat and then son Alvi.
Following the revelation, the father of the siblings Amanullah filed a case against his wife.
