Detectives in separate anti-narcotics drives in different areas of the city on Tuesday night arrested four people with 79,000 pieces of Yaba tablets. Sources at the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said a special DB team conducted a drive in Demra area at around 9:30 pm and arrested Md Tanvir Hossain along with a private car loaded with 70,000 Yaba tablets. In another drive, a DB team arrested two alleged drug dealers - Md Babul Miah and Priyatush Mazumder - from Paltan area at around 8:55 pm. The detectives recovered 5,000 pieces of yaba tablets from their possessions. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP Marif Hossain Sarder said detectives arrested alleged drug peddler Md Abdul Malek from Jatrabari area and recovered 4,000 pieces Yaba tablets from his possession at around 8:55 pm. Separate cases were filed with concerned police stations against the four arrested. ?UNB
