One killed as cargo plane crashes in Cox's Bazar

A cargo aircraft crashed into the Bay in the tourist resort district of Cox's Bazar on Wednesday morning, leaving one killed and another one injured.

The pilot and a crew are still missing.

Deceased--pilot was identified as a Ukraine citizen and flight engineer of the plane.

UNB adds, superintendent of Police Shyamol Kumar Nath said the Jessore-bound cargo plane of True Airways carrying a shrimp consignment took off from the airport at 9:00am.

A few minutes later, as the aircraft showed an emergency signal, it was asked from the control room to land.

The moment it tried to land, the plane on impact had a crash and fell into the river at the Nazirtek point, half kilometre off the town, leaving one pilot killed and another pilot and two crew missing, airport manager Sadhan Kumar Mohanta said.

Later the missing pilot was rescued from the spot. He was admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
