A suspected criminal, aged about 30, was killed during a gunfight between criminals and Detective Branch (DB) of police in city's Khilgaon area early Tuesday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known.

Police said, a gang of criminals opened fire on a patrol team of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) when the team reached in front of Khidmah Hospital in the area around 3.45am, forcing the team to fire back that triggered a gunfight.

The gunfight left the alleged criminal bullet injured.

Police rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 4.15am, Khilgaon Police Station SI Mominul Islam.
