RANGPUR, Mar 6: At least ten people, including two policemen, were injured in a clash between police and a group of traders in Satmatha area of the city over payment of ransom money to the abductors of a college student through a bKash agent on Saturday night. Officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Kotwali Police Station Abdul Aziz said some unidentified miscreants had reportedly abducted Juhurul, a student of Carmichael College, from Lalbagh in the city on Saturday morning. The kidnappers contacted the family members of Juhurul over phone and asked them to send Tk15,000 as ransom to the address of Khandakar Telecom. However, the family members sent the money to Khandakar Telecom through bKash (mobile money transfer service). Later, the victim's family members lodged a complaint with Kotwali Police Station in connection with the incident. Following this, a team of police, led by Sub-inspector Shah Alam, conducted a raid at Khandakar Telecom around 8pm. When police reached there, owner and employees of the shop engaged in an altercation with the law enforcers which led to a clash. At one stage, other shop owners of the area also joined the clash when several chases and counter chases took place between police and the traders, leaving 10 people, including two policemen, injured. ?UNB
