SYLHET, Mar 6: Five accused in the murder case of Union Parishad (UP) member Dudu Mia were held in Kanaighat upazila under Sylhet on Sunday.
Those arrested were identified as Jahangir Alam, 27, son of Abdul Jalil, Kabir Uddin, 24, son of Abdul Haque, Kawser Ahmed, 28, son of Safar Ali, Selim Uddin, 26, son of Abdul Wahid and Gieas Uddin, 27, son of Abdul Malek.
Sources concerned said police in separate drives held the arrestees from difference places in the upazila on Sunday as they were accused in the case. Earlier, deceased Dudu Mia's brother Abul Kalam filed a murder case with Kanaighat Police Station on Saturday evening.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayan Kabir said that they were trying to nab other accused also. Dudu Mia, a Laxmipasha Union Parishad member and the son of Tafazzul Ali, was killed in a clash took place between two villagers following an argument over eave-teasing at Kawrighar village under Kanaighat on Friday afternoon.
