Dhaka University (DU) authorities on Sunday donated Tk 4 lakh to the family of Hafizur Mollah, a student of DU Marketing Department who died of typhoid and pneumonia recently.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique handed over the cheque to the victim's father Eshak Mollah at his office in front of other DU high-ups.
DU Treasurer Prof Dr Kamal Uddin, Business Studies faculty Dean Prof Shibli Rubayet UI Islam, Marketing Department Chairman Dr Prof Dr Anisur Rahman, Accounting & Information System department chairman Prof Shafiq Ahmed Siddiqe were present among others.
Among the total contribution, DU authorities contributed Tk 1 lakh, Business Studies Faculty Tk 50 thousand, Marketing Dept 50 thousand, Salimullah Hall Tk 50 thousand, Marketing Dept Alumni Association 50 thousand, Prof Dr Shafiq Ahmed Siddiq Tk 50 thousand and Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron contributed Tk 50 thousand.
Expressing deep condolence to the victim family DU VC said the death of Hafizur Mollah is a great loss for both his family and the country. He also urged all to be more cautious so that such sort of scathing incidents don't occur again. Hafizur, a first-year student of Marketing Department, died of typhoid and pneumonia following his forced stay at the balcony of Salimullah Hall on February 2 allegedly by BCL men.
