Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Sunday will inaugurate a three-day jute fair and distribute awards among individuals and organizations for their contribution in implementing the Mandatory Jute Packaging Act 2010. She will hand over the awards at a ceremony to be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. According to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, some 38 individuals who played a vital role in ensuring that the jute act was enforced consistently will be honoured. The crests will be granted in 11 categories, the source added. Besides, over 135 products from the Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) will be on display during the fair. Bangladesh currently ranks 1st in the world in jute export, and 2nd in jute production.
