A Gold Medal named after Professor Emeritus Dr. Serajul Haque and Mahjuja Haque has been introduced at the Department of Islamic Studies of Dhaka University (DU).
Md. Mansurul Haque, the second son of late Prof. Emeritus Dr. Serajul Haque handed over a cheque for Tk. 8 lakhs on Sunday to DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin at the VC's office to introduce the gold medal.
Vice Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdur Rashid, Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman and family members of the donor were present on this occasion. Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in Honors final examination from the Department of Islamic Studies will be awarded 'Prof. Emeritus Dr. Serajul Haque & Mahjuja Haque Gold Medal.'
Prof. Dr. Arefin Siddique thanked the donor for his donation to establish 'Prof. Emeritus Dr. Serajul Haque & Mahjuja Haque Gold Medal' for the welfare of the Dhaka University students. The VC also paid his glowing tributes to the memory of late Professor Emeritus Dr. Serajul Haque.
It may be mentioned that late Dr Serajul Haque was a Professor Emeritus of the Department of Arabic & Islamic Studies of Dhaka University.
