Several new capacities of agricultural extensionist to fight against the new challenges have been assessed at the end of a two-day national workshop on "Capacity Needs Assessment of Extension and Advisory Service (EAS) Providers in Bangladesh" held at the conference room of PROSHIKA Human Resources Development Center at Manikganj Sadar Upazilla on February 27-28.
The workshop was organised by Bangladesh Agriculture Extension Network (BAEN) with the help of Agriculture Extension in South Asia (AESA), an Asia Pacific region unit of Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS), a global platform for agricultural extensionist.
Dr. Rasheed Sulaiman, Director and Nimisha Mittra, Program Manager, of Center for Research on Innovation and Science Policy (CRISP), India conducted the workshop while Prof. Dr. Md. Sekender Ali, Chairman of the Dept. of Agricultural Extension and Information System, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, also the secretary general of BAEN, coordinated the programme.
Krrishibid Hamidur Rahman, Director General, Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), also the president of BAEN, Krrishibid Monjurul Hannan, Director (Administration) of DAE, Md. Alimuzzaman Miah , Deputy Director of DAE attended at a view-exchanging meeting at the first day of workshop, among others. Twenty four experienced and renowned agricultural extensionists & researchers from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI), SAARC Agriculture Center (SAC), Department of Fisheries (DoF), Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), Non-Government Organizations (NGO) participated in the workshop.
At the end of the workshop, certificates were handed over among the participants in a colourful concluding session.
