CHITTAGONG, Feb 28: Some rowdy leaders and activists of ruling Awami League's student front Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) allegedly assaulted two Chittagong University students, one of whom is a journalist, in front of Shaheed Minar area here on Sunday afternoon.
The victims were identified as M Mizanur Rahman, student of Public Administration and also CU Correspondent of the daily Purbadesh, and M Saddam Hossain, student of Marketing Department.
According to CU sources, Saddam went to CU bank to deposit tuition fees in the afternoon. At that moment BCL activist Robin went there and tried to deposit money without any queue. When Saddam asked Robin to stand into the queue but he denied.
Later, Saddam described the matter to his journalist friend Mizanur over phone. Being informed, Rabin and his cohorts took the duo in front of Shaheed Minar and beat them up.
